A Secretariat headed by the Commission Secretary runs the KNCHR's programmatic areas. The mandate of the KNCHR is to enhance the promotion and protection of human rights in Kenya.
Patricia Nyaundi - The Secretary to the Commission
Patricia Nyaundi holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Law Degree in Human Rights from the University of Cape Town. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 20 years of experience. She has vast experience in Women's Rights and has litigated and conducted numerous trainings to create awareness.
She is an expert in providing trainings with a special focus on gender based violence and harmful traditional practices. She has experience in training individuals in rural communities, police officers and governmental official .Ms Nyaundi is especially passionate about respect for women’s rights.
Evelyne Samba - Deputy Commission secretary
Ms Evelyn Samba is the deputy secretary to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights. She holds an MA in sociology and Community Development from University of Nairobi , BA in social work from university of Nairobi and currently pursuing an Executive MBA .She has professional qualification in performance management skills development ,women in leadership and effective team building skills and various short trainings in management and program management .She has vast experience with Action Aid International Kenya where she served as Head of Programmes and policy. She has also worked at the Nairobi Hospice as fund development /public relations officer and help Age Kenya as Development Officer
